Alex F. Mattera is an attorney with Demeo & Associates, P.C. Mr. Mattera focuses his practice on commercial bankruptcy, bankruptcy litigation, business reorganization, and creditor and debtor rights. His representation includes debtors, ceditors' committees, trustees, secured creditors, and other parties in interest in bankruptcy and related proceedings. He is a frequent panelist at American Bankruptcy Institute conferences and the Boston Bar Association Brown Bag Lunch series. Prior to joining Demeo & Associates, P.C., Mr. Mattera was an associate at the law firm of Gadsby Hannah LLP (n/k/a McCarter English, LLP), and was previously law clerk to the Honorable James F. Queenan, Jr., former Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts.
Mr. Mattera is admitted to practice before the Supreme Judicial court for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Supreme Court of the State of New Hampshire, the United States District Court for the Districts of Massachusetts and New Hampshire, the United States Court of Appeals for the First and Third Circuits, and the United Staes Supreme Court. He is also a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Gloucester Bar Association, and the Boston Bar Association, where he serves on the Steering Committee for the BBA's Bankruptcy Section.
Mr. Mattera earned a B.A. in political science and Russian studies (with honors) from the University of Rhode Island in 1994, a M.A. in international relations from Boston University in 1997, and a J.D. from Boston College Law School in 1998. While studying for his juris doctorate, he served an internship with the Office of the United States Trustee, and was an assistant editor of the treatise Chapter 11 Theory & Practice: A Guide to Reorganization. Mr. Mattera has been named a rising star in Boston Magazine, 2005-2010.
He lives with his wife and two children on the North Shore of Boston.
